Bee Eater Fan Dance

It rained for the entire time during our visit to Nyerere National Park in November, 2023, but there were periods of sun every once in a while between the showers. It was actually wonderful for bird photography. The light was bright but diffuse, and the birds were constantly exhibiting interesting behaviors as they tried to shake off the water and dry out a bit and preen before the next squall.

This Little Bee Eater looked a bit like a burlesque dancer holding a modesty fan to make sure nobody saw more than they should.

I took the image with a Canon EOS R6 with a Canon 200-400 F4L IS USM 1.4 EXT lens, f6.3, ISO 1000, 1/1600 sec, 560 mm, handheld.
