The Nikon Z8 is one of the most desirable cameras on the market right now, containing almost all the features of the top-end Z9 in a smaller and more affordable package.
Coming to you from Evan Ranft, this enlightening video explores the Nikon Z8's features and performance in real-world settings. Ranft's firsthand experience with the camera, especially given his historical preference for Nikon, adds a layer of authenticity and relatability to his review, going beyond simply looking through the specs. The emphasis on the Z8's low-light performance and autofocus capabilities addresses two of the most critical concerns photographers have today. Even among modern cameras, the Z8's capabilities stand out.
Additionally, Ranft highlights the Z8's video performance, an area where Nikon has previously lagged behind its competitors. Ranft's astonishment at the Z8's video quality and ease of color grading is compelling, especially for photographers looking to expand into videography without sacrificing image quality or buying another camera. The autofocus performance in video mode, once a weak point for Nikon, has seen substantial improvements, making the Z8 a more versatile tool for dynamic shooting situations. The fact that Ranft considers the possibility of switching to the Z8 as his primary camera underscores the significance of the steps Nikon has taken in recent years. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Ranft.
I have been using Nikon 28mm 1.4 e lens attached to my Z8 via adapter The performance of that lens is stunning. Very sharp and good bokeh. In my opinion it is better than Leica M 35mm summilux in terms of optical quality. While the Z8/ 28mm 1.4e is larger and heavier than the M11/ 35mm summilux, it is much easier to focus and shoot.
